Possible basement flooding, Roberts Road area, Grimsby

Grimsby residents in the area of Roberts Road are asked to check their basements for flooding.

The Roberts Road Sewage Pump Station is currently under construction for upgrades. As part of upgrades, the contractor installed a temporary independent by-pass pumping system. The temporary system experienced a failure between approximately 6 – 8:30 a.m. this morning and may have resulted in basement flooding in the area of Roberts Road, east of Hunter Road to Kerman Avenue and North of Main Street to Lake Ontario.

The by-pass pumping system is back in operation. The Region is continuing to monitor the situation. Residents are encouraged to examine their basements as soon as possible to determine if any flooding has occurred and to contact their home insurance provider to address any loss or damage that may have resulted.
