Silver medal for novice Kings

After a bit of a slow start to the Silver stick tournament the major Novice Peach Kings won when it mattered.

After placing third in the preliminary round, Grimsby found themselves up against a tough team from Tillsonburg.

After the end of two periods it was still tied when Grimsby finally scored the game winner to move on to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals the Kings were once again facing elimination against a big team from St. Mary’s.

This game also came down to the last minute with Grimsby prevailing.

In the finals, Grimsby was in for its toughest challenge facing an undefeated team from Dorchester.

After two-and-a-half close periods Dorchester scored to take a three-point lead late in the third to win the game.

Grimsby was rewarded with a spot in the final round of the Silver Stick Championship to be held Jan. 22-25 in Michigan.
