UPDATED — Sink hole closes Hwy. 20

A “breached pipe” which connected to culverts caused enough erosion under Hwy. 20 to cause a sink hole, necessitating closing the road for two days.

Shawn McCauley of Niagara Region’s Transportation Operations department said work started immediately Wednesday morning, with a re-opening hoped for late Thursday.

Traffic is rerouted along Grimsby Road to Mud Street to Thirty Road/Station Street.
