Experience - for 18 years I have been on town council and served in various roles – Chair of Public works, Chairman of Administration and Finance and Deputy Mayor. As well as served on Niagara Power Boards. The transition should be an easy one.
Commitment –to the town to make things work and develop ‘Made in Grimsby Solutions’ to issues like WLMH, development and transit needs.

With 30 years of experience as a local businessperson and my previous tenure on Council as an Alderman, I am well prepared with the unique combination of leadership, political and business skills that the role of Mayor requires.
As Mayor, I will bring transparency, accountability and openness back to Town Hall.
Residents, who are now kept in the dark, deserve a Mayor and Council that is accessible, respects our citizens and provides them a greater say in Town decisions.
Quite simply, I hope to bring common sense to Town Hall and lead a Council that follows our community vision.
Being a long time resident of Grimsby (20 years), I have seen what Grimsby was and what it is now. I promise to research all decisions I support; to hear from both sides of an issue.
I will stand behind my decisions and debate them with anyone that is interested. Anyone that knows me, knows that anything I do, I do with integrity.
I will bring a fresh set of eyes and a willingness for transparency towards issues that Grimsby residents have a right to know about. I believe in consensus building rather than confrontation.
Because I’m committed and prepared to represent the residents and voters of Ward One and Grimsby.
From a moral perspective, I cannot sit around and watch our elected officials disrespect our citizens while they make unethical and irresponsible decisions about the future of Grimsby. If you want change then you must vote a change-agent.

My qualifications in leadership, operations, budgets, policy and process improvement make me a good candidate for Grimsby Council.

As a former Associate Director General with the Public Health Agency of Canada I will bring to Council 3 decades of public sector experience, strong fiscal management expertise and good governance practice. I understand what produces good public policies that strengthen communities and how to avoid ill-conceived, wasteful projects that result in higher taxes and missed opportunities.

I worked as a full time registered practical nurse at our local Grimsby hospital, West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, since 1986. I am presently retired from WLMH but am continuing to work and run my own foot care business (Grimsby Foot and Nail Care) in the Grimsby surrounding area.
I am a Dutch-Canadian citizen with a strong belief in family, community, and heritage values.
Together with my husband of 39 years, we raised our three children in Grimsby to be a part of a small tight-knit community with a small town feel.
Now I see the need for changes that are respectful for the people who live here. My surname, Nelles, is a well-known name in Grimsby since 1784.

• I bring honesty, openness and transparency in all matters to residents of Grimsby, These are traits ingrained in me after 29 years as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer.
• I will work hard to keep town taxes to no higher than the Cost of Living each year.
• I will work hard to address long outstanding concerns for residents within Ward 3, such as bringing local transit to Grimsby as well as working for responsible growth.
Over my 15 years of service to our community as a Council member, I have provided leadership and long-term vision. I have always responded promptly and worked hard to represent the constituents of Ward 4.
I have worked to reduce debt while protecting service levels and expanding parks and facilities. As chair of the planning committee, I have worked for better long-term land-use planning in Grimsby and helped reshape and restore the downtown by advocating for heritage and façade improvement grants. I facilitated the Waterfront Master Plan, making permanent public access to Grimsby's waterfront through trails and parks a reality.
For the past four years I have paid very close attention to how decisions are made at Council.
Often, reports are presented and rubber-stamped. I have attended most meetings, spoke as a delegation and carefully read and questioned numerous planning and consultant’s reports, resulting in corrections and changes to important policies.
Grimsby is undoubtedly a great place to live, but insufficient parking standards, lack of by-law enforcement, fill dumping violations and over-intensification are ongoing concerns. I will continue to speak up and advocate to resolve community issues and would be privileged to be your voice for Ward 4.
As Alderman for Ward 4, I have served for 8 years on the Finance and Administration and the Recreational Services and Culture Committees. I have a strong financial background and will continue to ensure financial issues are prudently managed.
Over the past 4 years, as Chair of the Finance Committee, I oversaw a number of projects and am particularly proud of the completion of Fire Station 2, on time and on budget. During that period tax increases did not exceed the cost of living.
I have lived in Grimsby for the past 22 years and am passionate about this town.
Born and raised in Grimsby and now living in Ward 4 with my wife, Julie, our son and soon to arrive baby, so I’m passionate about this town and its future.
I became interested in local politics in 2014 and I’ve been attending council meetings regularly since 2016, so I’m very well informed and have shown dedication to the issues. I’m approachable, hard working, and honest.

We need to have the Grimsby representative be proactive with issues related to Grimsby.
Because of my past experience on the Transportation Strategy Steering Committee we (the Team) studied the issues relating to all the municipalities and came up with excellent recommendations to the Region. Inter-municipal Specialized Transit.
We need the Regional Rep to attend Council meetings and update issues related to Grimsby. I will do that.
