Joanne Johnston, Grimsby, Ward 3

Joanne Johnston, Grimsby, Ward 3

More than thirty years and then some, Stan and I chose to raise our family here in this community, we call home. Married for over forty years, raising our two daughters, Stephanie and Rachel and our two grandchildren, Isabella and Antonio.

I have been a member of Town Council for the past twelve years, representing the voice of Ward 3 and Grimsby. Before being voted in Ward 3 as alderman, I was a council appointed board member of the Heritage Committee. This is where I got a feeling for being part of a team and the community. Being on council is an extension of my commitment for what I can do to contribute to our growing and vibrant town.

This year we saw the completion of our Southward Park on the mountain. Soccer, baseball, town events all happen here. This is an active place where our community gathers.

Being on the Business Improvement Association board we saw our Downtown Improvement Area partner with our Planning Department and encourage businesses to participate in the Facade Improvement Plan to beautify our town.

Along with our community we continue to rally and fundraise to show our provincial and federal governments we need the rebuild of our West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Do not doubt this, believe that it will happen.

As I campaign through my ward, I will answer any of your questions with complete honesty, as I have always been transparent with my decisions on council. I will always welcome suggestions and yes, criticism. My father taught me to be honest, speak up for myself and have no regrets with my decisions. I am very honoured to be your alderman, part of this community and council. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

As a community, it is our responsibility to look out for each other, It is for this reason I ask you to re-elect me as your representative for Ward 3.

Remember this is our town, our community. Please take some time and volunteer your time. And on October 22, 2018 get out and vote and let your voice be heard.

God bless

Joanne Johnston

Candidate for Ward 3 Alderman
