Jennifer Korstanje, Ward 3, Grimsby 2022

Like you, I am also a proud resident of Grimsby. My husband and I value the opportunity to raise our children in this, our home town.

Grimsby is under tremendous pressure to grow. While we cannot know every decision that Council will be facing over the next four years, we can choose to elect a team that reflects our values, acts with integrity and protects its citizens.

The public trust of our council was compromised. As a community we deserve to have confidence that the information we disclose, will not be a weapon to jeopardize our safety. We deserve to know it will not be used in a misrepresented manner to defame our character and that it will not be used for personal or political gain.

If this could happen to me, it could happen to any one of us.

Unfortunately, there was a majority on council who did not reflect the values of the Grimsby that I know, one where discourse is respectful, where common ground is sought, where codes of conduct are respected, where the rules apply to everyone equally, where the decision makers understand that the health of the community is dependent upon leaving no one behind, where self-interests are set aside for the public interest and where taxpayers and residents can trust their Council to amplify their voice.

I am running to restore the integrity, accountability, respect and trust to our Grimsby Town Council.
