Tony Brunet, Ward 2, Lincoln 2022

Our community is projected to grow to 46,000 by 2051. It is critical we continue to work with all residents, business owners and stakeholders to develop a shared vision for Lincoln that will guide the work we do moving into the future.

From a policy perspective we must continue to look at community and plan for smart growth. Growth is coming and how we navigate the new development while ensuring we provide the necessary and associated recreational amenities and active transportation investments is smart growth.

A consolidated regional transit system and continued advocacy to bring GO to Niagara is required.

A balanced Investment in roads, water and wastewater, parks and recreation while also focusing on economic outreach and business attraction and retention is required. We must balance investments in services with long term financial sustainability while keeping taxes at an appropriate and necessary level.

Over the past 4 years this term of council saw an unprecedented $57million received from upper levels of government. Targeted government relations advocacy will remain a focus to secure sources of funding to lessen the impact on the tax levy.

It remains very important to build strong, vibrant and healthy community while preserving our history and unique character and charm.

We implemented a diversity, equity, inclusion policy in 2022.We must model this and use in our decision making and continue to appoint different voices in our advisory committees. I will continue to promote and ensure we are a welcoming community

My top priorities will align with what I am hearing from many residents:

1) Truck traffic and road safety

2) Continue to preserve and enhance our parks and greenspace.

3) Ensure growth fits with our existing neighborhoods.

Some highlights of the major projects invested in over the past 4 years:

* Rotary Park

* Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre

* Angelina Prokich Park

* Hixon St Pumping Station upgrades

* Lincoln Ave – Phase 1 Reconstruction

* Konkle Creek naturalization /trail

* Kinsmen Park off leash dog park

* Jordan Village Improvements

  • Friesen Blvd neighborhood Reconstruction
  • * Rittenhouse Rd Reconstruction

My pledge to all residents in Ward 2 and all of Lincoln is to be honest with residents and appreciate and respect they have a voice in Municipal and Regional matters. I will continue to operate in an open and transparent manner, I will be accountable for the decisions I make and communicate with residents in a clear and appropriate fashion. The last 8 years have been challenging, but extremely rewarding.

We truly have some transformational projects with the Prudhomme’s development ready to begin in Vineland, and the opportunity that will be presented to the future council with the 16-acre Beamsville District Secondary School property.

I ask for your continued support to continue the work started. To deliver a fiscally responsible budget in 2023 to help battle inflation.

I ask for your vote to allow me the honor and privilege to be your voice at Town Hall.
